We had our system installed two weeks ago right before we went on vacation and on our second day in Florida, we got a call that the alarm had been tripped. Of course we were in a panic. Luckily our neighbor has a key to our house because she was getting our mail. We live in a pretty safe neighborhood, but I still thought "what if?" My wife is a very light sleeper and hears noises at night that usually turn out to be nothing but the wind or our old creaking house. Still we thought a good security system would give us the peace of mind we wanted and that way we could stop wondering. Just knowing that the system is in place (we have signs on all the windows and doors and one in the ground in the front yard) I think tells would be intruders to go find an easier mark.
It’s just a totally different feel leaving home to go out and knowing that the alarm is on and you have nothing to worry about. I even got our insurance company to give us a break on our homeowners insurance. We certainly enjoy ourselves more when we go out and I for one am sleeping better at night.
